The Benefits of Screening

What is AAA?

An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a bulge or swelling in the aorta, the main blood vessel that supplies blood to the body. AAAs usually have no symptoms and many people don't know they have one.

If an AAA grows large, it can burst, which can be life-threatening. Screening can find AAAs early, when treatment is simpler and more effective.

Who is it for?

The programme invites men ages 65 for a free screening scan.

You'll be invited by letter when it's your turn, if you think you're eligible and haven't received a letter, you can still contact us.

Where are we?

Our programme covers areas such as Birmingham East, Heart of Birmingham, South Birmingham, Sandwell, Sandwell, Solihull, and  East Staffordshire, including Lichfield, Tamworth, Burton on Trent, and Uttoxeter.
